I have a lot of spare time on my hands. I had a busy weekend planned: Friday night Pathfinder, Saturday night boozing, and Sunday. . . well Sunday is why it's great to be born a man (besides the whole peeing standing up thing). But, regretably, I am even going to skip this, my yearly superbowl ritual (and more regretably, the food involved) as a result of the lingering snow in my neighborhood and on the surrounding streets.

I am horribly underprepared for a Superbowl at home. No wings, no fries, no 7 layer dip. . . It's driven me to the brink of reason. I even grabbed the last bag of chips from my wife this morning exclaiming "if you eat them now, what will we eat for the superbowl!? Did you think about that!?" Luckily, I have a very understanding wife (although I'm sure she tucked away this minor psychotic break as an example of my behavior she can barter with later. )

On the bright side, being snowed in is great for gaming, and prepping for games! So far, my restlessness has been pretty productive. I've prepared 3 adventures and painted a few 40k minis.

I'm curious about you guys. . . How are you dealing with the Snowpocalype? And more importantly, are you anywhere near Govans and in possession of 7 layer dip???

Well, my plan to get snowed in at work on Friday failed: everyone came in to work Friday night and there was nothing for me to do. So, I went home and got snowed in there on Saturday. Today, I'm still snowed in at home, but they wanted me to come in enough that one of the managers came and got me in his 4x4.

Yesterday, I felt like Bart Simpson in that very early episode where he gets the snow day that he prayed for, but has to buckle down and study. I felt like missing work meant that I should be doing something, anything, to be productive, but I just couldn't find the drive. I rattled off my list of things that I should be doing, and five of the seven were game-related, but it didn't happen. Now, with a relatively do-nothing day (and night, and possibly day) or work ahead of me, I hope I get something done.

    Wish me luck.

I forgot to mention that I tweeked my character for your Pathfinder campaign.

I figured I’d list the games I prepped. If there is any interest, I could put them in the G4P section. Otherwise I’ll just run them on off weeks with my regular group:

    Macho Women with Guns! –

I still need to be more familiar with the d20 modern system, but the story, characters, and encounters are solid. I’m banning the “nookie” skill; ‘cause, as a GM, I would like to avoid the awkwardness of roleplaying it out.

    Story:

Every anime plot ever!!!! The fate of the universe rests squarely on the shoulders of an awkward Japanese teenager. Ryu is a prince from another world who doesn’t know he has a legacy gift that is necessary to bring peace to the galaxy. He was hidden away on earth, and has grown up in Japan, unaware of his unusual heritage. As a student and athlete he epitomizes mediocrity. And furthermore no girls will give him the time of day. He needs to find the way to his potential, before he can be tapped to use his power to bring peace to the galaxy.

    Characters:

Ayami- Childhood friend whose secretly in love with Ryu, but beats on him constantly.

Yuuki- Annoying cat girl and captain of the royal guard charged with bringing Ryu home

Mosuki- Child-Genius Engineer from his home planet. Accompanied by a 8’ tall warbot.

Princess Valencia- A snobby noble from a rival planet in the alliance who has reluctantly joined the mission to retrieve Ryu.

Characters are pregen for this one. I can’t see another way around it with the story I worked out.

    Cthulhu Tech-

Have to give thanks to John Foster for turning me on to this system. I am very excited about this game, so the setting, characters and background I worked out are waaaaaaay too detailed for a one-shot. I’m hoping to make a mini-series out of this one.

    Story:
You and your friends are young Street Urchins that stumbled upon a murder of supernatural origins. The taint of the experience has haunted your dreams, and your reality. You’re losing chunks of time and these episodes of amnesia are getting more frequent. But no one cares about the health of a runaway punk kid. No one cares about the strange murder on this side of town. No one cares about your friends or their bazaar and panicked stories. No one cares that kids like you have been disappearing all over the city. And no one cares that you’re next. . .

Characters aren’t pregen, but there are some obvious restrictions due to the storyline.

    Al Qadim (2nd Ed)-

The overflow game for the mini-con on Sunday the 21st of this month. High Arabian Fantasy is a pleasant change from the norm, but I am a bit rusty on the mechanics of 2nd Edition AD&D.

The premise is Arabian Pirates ala Sinbaad the Sailor. A few homebrew elements are thrown in for flavor (like I took Al Qadim out of the Forgotten Realms world, and I arranged a skeleton for a Sid Meier-esque ship to ship combat mechanic), but these shouldn’t interfere too severely with the game. In fact, I hope these will add depth.

As with all mini-con games, the characters are pregen and is this instance all different kinds of rogues.
