Attacks along the Trade Road - Nov 29 (FULL)

You saunter up to a group of anxious and sweating merchants, crouched over their mugs of broy. When you suggest that you might be able to help them with whatever is putting their minds in such a state, two laugh, but one turns to you seriously and says:

"We've long had problems with bandits along the Southern trade road, you know, down towards Walis, but things are getting out of hand! Last week, I went to stop at George Adyar's farm, and the place was trashed, and now we've been beset by raiders on almost every trip and we're having to push through filthy throngs of refugees just to get our goods through - and some of them steal! We could reward you handsomely if you got to the bottom of things... say, 100 gold bits each?"


Bikikcha doesn't saunter well and doesn't understand why these men are wasting water by "sweating" it out of their pores, but he would like to help alleviate whatever is obviously bugging(!) them.

Assuming one of the kind GMs would like to run this I can play any day/night Mon Nov 29 - Dec 5 except for Tues or Thurs.

I'm going to change my position slightly and say that I would actually prefer to DM this since my tag along healer can't make Monday games.

I'll bring a leader as well, just in case we have < 2 leaders.

I could bring Rowdin (my druid) and I am contemplating rolling a strikery-invigorating fighter.

Jarrol's muscles saunter into the room, followed quickly by the man himself. He sweats, but only to highlight his cuts - they're that important.

"A 'healer?'" He laughs heartily. "I am no healer. Pain is the feeling of fear leaving your body. What you call 'healing' is just me filling the space fear leaves with Jarrol."

Jarrol loves glory, and so will go forth with only 4, but we could certainly do with at least one more, particularly a Defender.

There is always extra glory to go around when there is no defender!

You can share your notes with me if you want to, especially if you have tie-ins or people who have more interesting names than George involved. I'll definately be adding my own stuff into the mix however.

I can roll a defender, if I can decide on which one I like most!

I should be available if you want one more. I'm thinking about making a blind prophet character, some sort of psychic type, but I'm not sure which role... probably battlemind.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking a female Maud'dib, who could eventually grow into some sort of cult figure, if she lives long enough (big if ). Although being blind kind of makes her like Toph, which wasn't really intentional... So, actually a Monk would work here, too, but I'll probably go with Battlemind or Psion.

Edit: Actually, now I'm leaning towards a Telepathic Psion. Fits the character and seems like a lot of fun to play.

I could also make the 29th. I can bring the jaunty tunes of Quinn, or the striker/off-healer Bateleur. I don't want to overload the table, though.

Though, actually... My folks are in town and basically using my basement as their "apartment." That's not a barrier to playing here (just say hi when you go down to use the bathroom), but if someone else wanted to host, I'd be up for that too.

I have no problem with hosting, if you'd rather not expose the parents to our particular brand of nerd-kind. Peeps just have to be okay with my dog being all up in your business (as Dan is now used to).

I would also be more than willing to host if people want to drive out to Baltimore County (just off of 795)

I've got Quinn - Bard/Leader : Baeteleur : Shaman/Ranger Hybrid (striker/leader) : Unnamed Mul/Battlemind(defender)

All of these are "on deck" so, whichever is needed, really. I'd prefer to play my Shaman/Ranger, as I'm itching to try it out, but am willing to play any of the 3.

Re: venue. I'd marginally prefer to play at my place than Sean's, just b/c parking near me is free. Bohrdumb, about how long does it take to get to my place from yours? I'm just cognizant of when I'd be able to leave, etc. and don't want us to not have much play time.

Seanius, I'm brining Jarrol, who's a full-on Healer (standard healer enc powers, plus an at-will that hands out THP like candy), so we're at least covered on basic Leader duties, and I'm kinda interested to see a hybrid in play.

Dan, I'm actually going to take back my offer. When you mentioned parking I remembered that my complex is instituting a towing policy, and while it doesn't start till after 11, I would hate for us to need to play long and someone get towed.

No one feel sorry for Bateleur. He died doing what he loved: Killing people and taking their things.

Bikikcha brings the head of the leader of the slavers back to the merchants along with word that many slaves were freed and that one of the slaver's mountain strongholds has been destroyed.

To his companions he says, it seems another journey into the desert will have to be made to destroy the additional slaver outposts on this map.

One rules question concerning conjurations (such as the spirit of athas).

Conjurations:

Your Defenses: Normally, a conjuration cannot be attacked or physically affected. If a conjuration can be attacked or physically affected, it uses your defenses. Unless an attack specifically targets conjurations, only the attack’s damage (not including ongoing damage) affects the conjuration.

This is a bit confusing because they don't define "normally." I think "normally" means unless the conjuration power itself allows them to be attacked. Neither the online compendium nor the rules compendium say anything about how many HP a conjuration has or that you take damage when it dies. The 10+1/2 damage to destroy a conjuration is part of the Shaman's Spirit Companions (which are also conjurations) power description, not a general rule about conjurations.

So the question is can the Spirit of Athas be attacked and destroyed and if so how many HP does it have? Presumably at the very least the only way it can be attacked is as collateral damage from a burst or blast attack.

One other note, conjurations occupies no space, so they can't be used to block monsters.

Seems you are correct. I was mixing shaman specific conjurations with just regular conjurations.

So, by the RAW rules of conjurations, spirit of athas seems to work as such:

It cannot be attacked, as it does not state that it can be attacked
It cannot be moved, as it does not state that it is movable
It occupies no squares

Cool, thanks for the clarification. Not movable reduces the power of the power, but indestructible is a good thing. Bik will just have to be very strategic about where it gets placed on the battlefield from now on.

I think in theory Jarrol kept the map but if you want to start a thread for it just go for it. Just mention in the thread that you are following up on the map and that should be good enough.

Yep - just start a thread with something like "Eradicating the Half-Giant slavers" or some such. And I'd give Elvorix first dibs on DMing, as she's done the most to develop the forces of the Great Kra.

Sorry for the delay, all. Jarrol returns a few hours after you load him up with all the random gear you took off the dead half-giant slavers, sweaty and apologizing that he "got sidetracked." In addition to the 100 gold bits each survivor got from the merchant consortium, Jarrol puts into your hand a pile of ceramic shards amounting to 20 gold, 9 silver, and 2 copper bits. Drink up!
